The Dental Lab Ltd – Terms and Conditions

  • Payment, strictly 30 days from month of invoice, by bank transfer. 

  • The laboratory reserves the right to withhold goods, and/or charge an interest fee, if payment exceeds 90 days from month of invoice. After written/e-mail, communication, with no satisfactory result, the laboratory may instruct a third party to retrieve the monies owed.

  • All impressions received in the laboratory must have been cleaned, disinfected, free from blood, and have cotton wool/retention cord removed. The laboratory reserves the right to return cases that are believed to have not been cleaned and disinfected appropriately and levee a surcharge.

  • Impressions must be checked for accuracy before sending to the laboratory. Impressions which are unfit for purpose will be subject to a surcharge even if an end product is not produced. If the client requests the laboratory to proceed with manufacture, the laboratory will be unable to offer any guarantee for that lab work. The full price will always be due and there will be a full price charge for any remake.

  • Completed lab work sent from the laboratory is not in a sterile state. It is the responsibility of the dental practice to sterilise the lab work before placing it in the patient’s mouth.

  • Please ensure lab work is not sent to the laboratory with excess added water in the bags containing impressions. The laboratory reserves the right to return cases with a ‘wet docket’, as this constitutes a health and safety hazard to laboratory and delivery workers.

  • It is the client’s responsibility to fill out the prescription instructions correctly and thoroughly. For private cases, the laboratory ideally requests additional info i.e., photos and pre-ops. Restorations are constructed to the specification prescribed on the lab docket. The laboratory is not responsible for the suitability of the specification. The laboratory can only make lab work to the specifications and preparations which are presented, and cannot be expected to assume. The laboratory is not responsible if manufacturing instructions are omitted from the prescription, resulting in an unsuitable restoration/device. The Dentist takes full responsibility for prescribing suitable material/alloy in accordance with regulations and the requirements of the case. NB Basic level restorations (nhs) have manufacturing constraints i.e., shade. The laboratory will not compensate Dentists fees, consequential losses or expenses of any kind.  

  • Failure to provide full information on the prescription i.e., prescribers name, practice name, patient reference, required by date etc may result in errors being made. The laboratory will not compensate Dentists fees, consequential losses or expenses of any kind.  

  • The laboratory endeavours to interpret and follow the client’s instruction correctly. If, however a mistake is made, the laboratory will rectify the situation free of charge, as quickly as productions techniques allow. The laboratory will not compensate Dentists fees, consequential losses or expenses of any kind.  

  • Cancelation of lab work, will be subject to charges in accordance with how far along the manufacturing process the case is. This includes model work and postal/delivery costs incurred.

  • By fitting lab work (even ‘temporarily’), the client accepts that the laboratory has fabricated the lab work to the correct value and specification to the satisfaction of the client, and therefore the full charge is always due.

  • Non-compliant/remake cases. If a product proves defective in circumstances of normal use, a replacement will be provided free of charge by the laboratory. This guarantee will only be applicable post evaluation on receipt of the defective lab work, original model and original impression, and within two weeks of the invoice date. Any guarantee offered after the event, would be up to 1 year from invoice date, if the product proves defective in circumstances of normal use; providing a full explanation of the circumstances, and returning the product where possible. The laboratories’ guarantee does not cover any defect arising from incorrect prescription or fitting. The guarantee becomes null and void if the patient does not receive an annual dental check-up or in case of restoration failure due to oral health problems. No guarantee can be given on products replacing immediate extractions. Damage caused by physical trauma or impact i.e., high-risk sports is specifically excluded from our product guarantee. The laboratory will not guarantee lab work where we believe that the requested product may not last the guarantee period due to its particular circumstances. If instructed to continue with manufacture, we will do so. However, in the event that the requested work fails, we will expect to be paid in full for the lab work supplied and for subsequent remakes. Remake charges will be governed by each individual case, whether it be free of charge, at a concessionary remake rate or a full charge.

  • The Laboratory may levee an express charge for cases when delivery is required sooner than the advised turnaround.

  • Should a restoration require out-sourcing, the laboratory may occasionally request extra time.

  • Postal/delivery charges maybe leveed for remake cases, requests for new impressions or other ‘query’ cases, in addition to the fee for the actual lab work. 

  • Low value/individual cases maybe subject to postal/delivery charges. The laboratory will despatch work to reach the client on the date specified on the lab docket. If for any reason this has not been possible, the Laboratory will deliver the work to the client at the earliest opportunity. The laboratory will not compensate Dentists fees, consequential losses or expenses of any kind.
